« Different kinds of bad relationships | Main | Nobody Ever Told Me... »

It's all to easy to assume the "breakdown" of the relationship is due to any number of factors that seem to be divisive. I was married to an immigrant and everyone always assumed the problems in the marriage were due to cultural differences or language barriers. Nope. He was abusive. That was the issue. It's truly much more simple than any of us ever realized. (After all, they keep us confused and doubting our own judgment.) It really boils down to respect. Does my partner respect my own needs as equally as he respects his? It's about priorities and respect, not sexuality or nationality or occupation or hair color.
